Judith Gap Mercantile
The Judith Gap Mercantile is one of the original stores from the old Main Street, dating back to 1908. The old fashioned general store was the center of the town’s culture. It was moved to its present location on Highway 191 in 1952, a merging of three early day stores - Beers and Haynes General Mercahndise Store, C.R. Stone Hardware and Haynes Drug Store. The store displays antiques from the Haynes family’s early stores and other historical memorabilia. The small town atmosphere beckons customers to browse through the aisles and buy it’s wide range of inventory. The Country Cottage Gift Shop, located in what was the old Post Office offers unique gift items. A counter with antique tractor seats for stools extend an invitation to sit down and stay awhile. The Mercantile is ‘world famous’ for it’s hand scooped milkshakes, and many customers have sat in those very seats to savor one. Present owners Jim & Bobby Bloomquist carry on with the old traditions of hometown hospitality. Stop by and pull up a tractor seat.
